Wine bottle hummingbird feeders
If you're looking to make your own hummingbird feeder, there are a number of different routes you can go. One particularly popular method is to use an old wine bottle. Wine bottles make very good hummingbird feeders, and as a bonus you are recycling a glass bottle that would end up in the trash or recyling otherwise.
There are two basic things that need to happen to make your new feeder. First, you will need to find a way for the birds to feed. You can get feeding tubes from all kinds of sources, including craft stores and garden stores. If you can't find them at any local shops, be sure to check the internet - they are available from many sites.
Secondly, you need to hang the feeder. The most common way to achieve this is by using wire. 8 gauge copper wire should be heavy-duty enough to support the feeder once full. Wrap the wire around the bottle, leaving enough to hang it from whatever location you want.
Of course, you can also decorate the bottle in any way that you find pleasing. Secure additional decorations or items to the wire, or if you'd rather you can attach them directly to the bottle.
Once complete, fill the bottle with nectar or whatever mix you normally use, and hang it out for the birds to enjoy. Now you have your very own wine bottle hummingbird feeder.
